Everyone matters. Your health matters. Your family’s health matters.
Having access to affordable health care in your community matters. Both mental and physical care should be within your reach. I have been at the brink of bankruptcy due to a lack of affordable health insurance, and I don’t want anyone else to go through that. Never again in this great State should anyone have to do without necessities just to pay health insurance premiums, buy medication, get vision and hearing care, see a dentist, or receive mental health services. You need a representative that will fight for your health care to be covered in the way you want—working for provisions in state law that recognizes your values. You need an advocate willing to educate and work with the other side, someone who speaks in a way Salem understands and is willing to have this conversation as often as is necessary, to show that your way works for you and should be accommodated in the law.
You should be free to choose your health care provider–whether it is a government-provided option or private insurance. If you or someone in your family is sick, you have earned the right to be able to focus on regaining health for yourself or your loved ones, instead of on how you’ll pay the hospital bill. Parents should never be forced to give up the home they worked for just to pay for their prescriptions. Freedom is being able to access and afford the health care that enables you to have the best health possible. Your health matters. Your quality of life matters.
