You are not free when you are sick. You are not free if you can’t afford to see a doctor when you need to. You deserve accessible health care—within reach economically and geographically. Never again in this great State should anyone have to do without necessities just to pay health insurance premiums; that restricts your freedom. You need a representative that will fight for your health care to be covered in the way you want—working for provisions in state law that recognizes your values. Complaining about the laws hasn’t worked; you need an advocate willing to educate and work with the other side, someone who speaks in a way Salem understands and is willing to have this conversation, to show that your way works for you and should be accommodated in the law.
You should be free to choose your health care provider. If you or someone in your family is sick, you have earned the right to be able to focus on regaining health for yourself or your loved ones, instead of on how you’ll pay the hospital bill. Parents should never be forced to give up the home they worked for just to pay for their prescriptions. Freedom is being able to access and afford the health care that enables you to have the best health possible.
